Somegataki Waterfall

Period:

Completed in 1977 (Work of sculptor Masayuki Nagare)

A work of stone and water art for the ears and eyes

Sculptor Masayuki Nagare designed this 12 meter wide sculpture of stone and water. The flowing water spreads across the stair-stepped stone and falls like a waterfall. Be sure to enjoy the sound as you take your time observing the work. The stair steps are made primarily from foundation stones from private homes of the Meiji and Taisho periods. The scenery, and Nagare’s sculpture, are a treat in every season.
