A secure vault for public bonds

This stone warehouse was moved here from Shodoshima Island. It was built by island native entrepreneur Heitarou Fujiwara to store bonds he donated to the village. The main entrance has an iron double door, and the flat roof with noki jabara (*1) makes the sturdy structure look like a massive safe or bank vault. It was made from special ordered granite from Inada, Ibaraki Prefecture, and is an imposing 2.8 meters wide and 3 meters deep.

*1 Noki jabara Cornices attached to a wall to support eaves above.
